The weather report was right for once. This morning has been cool, cloudy, and windy and I can almost smell some rain. We opened the front and balcony doors to let the breeze go through. The trees are swaying in the wind, just beautiful. Nice break in the hot weather, although it hasn’t been as hot as last year around […]

Hier bin ich wieder auf Robs Veranda beim Gemueseputzen, diesmal sind es wieder Fruehlingszwiebeln, denen ich die Haare schneide. We got up early to go to MacDonalds with Uncle Woody and Aunt Annie. Every workday they meet friends there when the place opens at 5 AM. Aunt Annie had taken off that day but we picked up their friend Boyd on the way because we were dropping him off at the Amtrak station later […]

I was back at work for the full day today and mostly fine except for some extensive sneeze and cough fests. My favorite moment was on the phone with a colleague were I couldn’t get out an entire sentence because of the coughing and tossing the receiver back and forth so I wouldn’t cough into […]

I’m so excited because tomorrow we’ll be on our way to the Oregon coast. This seems to become an annual thing with us and I can’t wait. Now I only have to shove odds and ends (mostly knitting) into my backpack and then try to find some sleep, because we have to get up around […]

I just came back from my midday walk and it must be close to 90 F/32 C degrees (the “official” temperature is 82 F/28C). I’m melting!!! This time of year we should be in the mid-70s F (or lower 20s C).

Yesterday and today I had doctor appointments in the morning. Yesterday was my yearly physical which is really just our “family” doctor asking my a couple of questions, recording my vitals (weight, height, blood pressure) and poking and prodding me in a few places. As usual I forgot to ask if my weight is different from […]

I’ve been meaning to post something about Yarn School. John and I spent a few days in Harveyville, KS where I attended a workshop for spinning with a bunch of really interesting women and had loads of fun. This is one of the skeins that I dyed and spun myself. I washed it, finally, last […]
